Cooperation in the development of medical education with Gadjah Mada University.

UGM is one of the top-three universities in Indonesia, as well as being the oldest and largest. UGM’s vision is to become an excellent and prominent research university by international standards, oriented on the interests of the Indonesian nation. The University of Groningen joins forces with the University of Maastricht, supporting UGM in an Institutional Strengthening project (“NPT Programme”) that aims to develop a patient-oriented learning curriculum at UGM and, eventually, an educational standard for the whole of Indonesia’s medical education. Project leaders are Prof. Rein Zwierstra (University of Groningen), Prof. Arie Kruseman (University of Maastricht), and Prof. Hardyanto Subono (Gadjah Mada University). As with ITB, the University of Groningen’s ties to UGM have been developing for well over 15 years, and have grown to include Medicine, Economics and Business, Law, and Pharmacy.
